What Makes a Good Name Card?
Thursday, February 26th, 2009 | Advertising, Design, Printing, Tips | No Comments
I’ve had many customers who cannot decide what to include on their namecard. Some of them have too little information and others just want to cramp everything they can find. You may come up with many name card versions, just like Webthris Concepts, we’ve had nearly 10 editions to our name card design. Finally we decided to stick to the current one for some time, (But still I feel it needs changes here and there).
This is merely a list that I feel you should consider, or some vital details that should be included onto your name card or business card. The design alone is another issue, which you can read further on my previous blog, namely Business Cards That Work.
You have to remember that the name card not only works as a reference material to remember you, but it also acts as a marketing tool that attracts you to your customer. Most customer are going to stack your namecard on their desk, or even file it in a cupboard. The small unique difference and catchy name card design is going to be the reason that particular person cherish your name card dearly and probably keep it somewhere more meaningful, for example their wallet. Below are points that you should consider when creating or designing your name card.
- Never Never ever forget to include your contact number or email address. If you have a website, include that link as well. Always have multiple ways of getting the customer to contact you. If you’re not able to answer a call, they will email you instead, so make sure these details are included on your name card.
- Your name card must mention what are the nature of your business, what you’re specialized in. Take Webthris Name Card for example, we list down every services that we provide at the back portion of the name card. If there are too many things to list, select the most important or key products or services of your business.
- Have a tag line, something that will attract customers to you, something unique that will remember you. examples would be “Money back guarantee”, “One stop printing solution”, “Name card experts”, “Banner King” absolutely anything that’s attractive.
- Make sure that your name card is readable, don’t use fonts which are too small or too colorful. The important parts on the name card must be bolded or use a different font to highlight them. This includes the persons name and contact number.
- Make sure the material used for your name card is strong, don’t use cheap or thin material where it tears easily. Don’t use too thick materials too, this may be hard for your customer to keep your name card in their wallet. Use lamination if possible, this makes the card waterproof and can last longer. The size of the name card should be standard too, so that it fits easily into a wallet or even a name card holder.
These are few of the important details you’ll need when deciding what to have on your namecards or business card. You can find more details regarding materials, sizes and prices regarding name cards on our website at www.webthris.com. Do add on to our comments if you have further details, we would like to hear your opinions.
Thank you and have a great day.
